Legendary coaches team up to raise $50,000 for charity.

Greensboro, Ga. (May 2, 2018) – Former college football coaches Mack Brown and Jim Grobe paired up to win the inaugural Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl Challenge Legends Competition by one stroke over a field of legendary coaches.

This year’s Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl Challenge charity golf tournament featured its first-ever Legends division, consisting of 10 former coaches who competed for a share of a $50,000 purse to be split among their selected charities. The Legends Competition was hosted at the Reynolds Lake Oconee resort outside Atlanta, and included five teams in a two-man scramble format over 18 holes using confirmed handicap adjustments.

The Brown/Grobe duo carded two eagles early in the competition and closed with a birdie on the 18th hole to finish 10-under-par securing the one-stroke win over Tommy Tubberville and Tom O’Brien.

“We had fun, and we had great people to play with. The other coaches were fantastic,” said former Wake Forest Head Coach Jim Grobe. “We had a bogie on one hole, a double bogie on another hole near the end, but we bounced back.”

“We had to pick it back up and go, just like the fourth quarter, when momentum changes,” said former Texas Head Coach Mack Brown. “We appreciate Chick-fil-A and the Peach Bowl so much for having us all down here for a couple days in this beautiful place.”

The Legends Competition featured a high-profile roster of college football greats that included three College Football Hall of Famers, five Dodd Trophy recipients and one Heisman Trophy winner. In total, the 10 coaches in the competition boast an impressive resume of 1,565 all-time wins, three FBS national championships, 34 conference championships and 62 coach of the year awards.
